Beyoncé Might Play Nala in The Lion King Live

Beyoncé, Queen of the Beyhive and queen of my heart, is in talks to voice Nala in Jon Favreau’s upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King, according to Variety. Bey is the director’s “top choice” to play the future ruler of Pride Rock opposite her bae Simba, who will be voiced by Donald Glover. Insiders tell Variety that the decision solely rests in Beyoncé’s hands as the due date of her twins approaches. Still, Disney and Favreau are willing to do “whatever it takes” to accommodate Beyoncé’s schedule, which could mean anything from babysitting future big sister Blue Ivy to managing Bey’s multiple businesses, including her athleisure line.

If all goes well, I truly hope this leads to Blue providing the voice of young Nala or Beyoncé lending her talents to the live-action remake’s official soundtrack. Imagine Bey singing “Circle of Life,” or teaming up with Donald for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” Who am I kidding. It’s Beyoncé. She’d cover the Elton John version of the latter, which requires one voice and one voice only.
As previously announced, the new Lion King is part of Disney’s massive live-action rollout, which includes Mulan (2018), AladdinThe Little Mermaid, and Dumbo.
